In June, I had the pleasure of photographing Akahria for a birthday-themed creative portrait session at My City Studio in Raleigh. This wasn’t just another birthday shoot, it was a full-blown vision come to life.

Akahria came prepared with style, confidence, and a concept that brought a playful, bold aesthetic to center stage. As a creative portrait photographer, I love when clients walk in with ideas, and I thrive on building them into something even bigger. This shoot was exactly that.

🎂 The Birthday Look: Red, White & Radiant


Our first setup was crisp and clean, featuring a white background, a white block, and Akahria in a white crop tee that said it all: “Kiss Me It’s My Birthday.” She paired it with a bright red skirt, white stockings laced with red bows, and a vibe that was fun, flirtatious, and full of energy.

Each pose felt like a celebration of self-expression. From sweet and sassy hand-framed moments to full-body stances that screamed confidence, Akahria brought the camera to life.

🎈 The Big Day: Balloons, Cake & Pure Joy


For this look, Akahria brought in birthday magic with bold energy. She posed effortlessly with colorful balloons and a sprinkle-covered birthday cake that tied the entire vibe together. The red and white palette popped perfectly against the studio’s clean setup, creating a scene that felt festive, vibrant, and stylish.

This part of the shoot was all about capturing joy, not just the look, but the mood. Her playful expressions, the float of the balloons, and the glow of her personality made each frame feel alive. Akahria’s energy lit up the studio, and when I asked about her birthday plans, she smiled and said, “Maybe Miami Beach!” That spirit came through in every shot. It wasn’t just about turning a year older, it was about showing up and celebrating big. A visual celebration, start to finish.
