A couple of weekends ago, I met up with Patricia and Dylan at WRAL Azalea Gardens in Raleigh, NC for a couples photo session before their big wedding day at the end of May. We couldn’t have asked for better timing—the azaleas were in full bloom, and the golden hour light created a soft, natural glow for their photos.

We began the session walking through the wooded garden trails, surrounded by bright pink and red azalea bushes. Patricia and Dylan were relaxed and natural in front of the camera, which made it easy to capture genuine, candid moments. One of my favorite spots was a stone archway we found just as the sun was setting behind it—an incredible scene that added so much warmth to their photos.

Next, we moved over to the fountain area, where they sat together for some peaceful portraits. There’s a shot of Dylan kissing Patricia’s forehead that might be one of my favorite images from the entire session. Afterward, we spent some time on the patio, where they could just enjoy being together without feeling too posed or formal.

SUNLIT orange azaleas

We wrapped up the evening with some close-up portraits, including a few that showed off Patricia’s engagement ring. One fun detail: we found an orange azalea bush that perfectly matched their wedding color palette—a lucky coincidence and a great finishing touch to the session.
